Hi!

I am Janet Bender and Fundamental Music Instruction has assigned me to St. Mark’s to get a music program started there.  I am very pleased to be part of the St. Mark Family!!

I am a graduate of Rutgers University and Thomas Edison State College and after trying out a few different jobs, I became a teacher.  I have had the pleasure of teaching Instrumental Music for 24 years now. 

In my Friday classes we have been working on naming the notes on our instruments, playing those notes and reading music, the linchpin for all progress in music.  Students do get homework in my class and it is really fun!  Play your songs on your instrument every day!

When I am not at St. Mark’s, I can be found at 4 other schools during the day. In the evenings, weekends and summers, I am an active performer on my major instrument, trumpet.  I am presently Principal Trumpet with the Monmouth Symphony and also perform with the Asbury Park Concert Band.  I can also be seen performing with the Orchestra of St. Peter’s by the Sea and at various free-lance engagements.

I am the proud mother of 4 boys!
