Scholarships
1. The Shereen Shafik Memorial Scholarship recognizing Love and Service to others (Open to Grades 3-6)
To be awarded, annually, to a student exhibiting exemplary behavior and/or acts of kindness on a consistent basis within the school or church community.
Scholarship Amount – $1,000
Criteria for application: A brief essay 150-200 words (or a short 2 minute video) from the student explaining what serving their school and church means to them and sharing 1–2 favorite experiences serving others.
2. The Shereen Shafik Memorial Scholarship recognizing Academic Excellence in Coptic Christianity (Open to Grades 3-6)
To be awarded to the student who submits a personal faith portfolio- to include pictures and 3-4 journal entries along with a 200-300 word essay reflecting how they apply Coptic Christian values to their daily home life, alongside a verified log of at least two non-school community or neighborhood volunteer initiatives they independently participated in.
Scholarship Amount – $1,000
Criteria for application: A letter of recommendation from the student’s religion teacher, Sunday School teacher, or school teacher/coach verifying academic excellence in religion class and theological extracurricular activities.
3. The Very Rev. Father Gabriel Abdelsayed Memorial Scholarship for Delivering the Word of God (Open to Grades 3-6)
Awarded to a student who lives out God’s word every day through their kind words, helpful actions, and participation in school activities in spreading the word of God
Scholarship Amount – $1,000
Criteria for application: A brief essay 150-200 words along with a photo log from the student capturing how they delivered the word of God through acts of kindness and compassion during the school day or within the local community.
3. The Very Rev. Father Bishoy Demetrious Memorial Scholarship for Hymnology, Music and Patristics (Open to Grades 5-6)
Awarded to the student who demonstrates and excels in the Church hymns, music, traditions in the Religion classes and/or music/hymns classes at St. Mark Coptic Christian Academy.
Scholarship Amount – $1,000
Criteria for application: Personal essay (150-200 words) and a video response (short 1-2 minute video) demonstrating exceptional knowledge of Church hymns, music and tradition. The essay should explain students’ dedication to learning hymns, music and Coptic tradition.
All essays and video presentations should be sent to [email protected]. Scholarship applications are due by May 3, 2027. All scholarship awards will be announced in June 2027. The exact presentation date will be announced once finalized.
