Sister Verena Saint John the Beloved

About Me

In the Name of the Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit Hi, My name is Sister Verena. I joined the Coptic Orthodox Church’s convent in 2011 under the auspices of His Grace Bishop Botros who ordained me as a sister in Patmos, Egypt. I graduated from Pennsylvania State University in 2009, with a Bachelor of Science and a minor in Human Development and Family Studies. I continued my path of education afterward. In 2018, I received a double Master from Fordham University. The first Master is in Pastoral Counseling and Spiritual Care. The second Master is in Religious Education, specializing in youth and young adult ministry. In 2020, I joined Holy Sophia Online University to obtain a Master in Divinity. Concurrently, I graduated in 2022 after four years of studying Orthodoxy at the Coptic Orthodox Institute of Habib Girgis. I am pursuing my Ph.D. in Pastoral Counseling from the Colorado Theological school. I am a licensed mental health counselor in New York and New Jersey. I am passionate about teaching and educating young generations about our Lord Jesus Christ and how much He loves and cares for us. Children always bring joy to my heart. I believe teaching is one of the greatest messages in life, and I am blessed to be one of God’s messengers to serve our children at Saint Mark’s Christian Academy. Also, I run a retreat house, under the auspices of His Grace Bishop David, in Staten Island, New York, where I accommodate girls for spiritual retreats to pray and serve. Please feel free to reach out to me at any time. God bless.
